With plenty of time on hand in Dar es Salaam I got some rather strange ideas. Found an invitation letter for an art gallery producing furniture made out of old Dhows. When I went there I already had a slight idea what I was looking for.
And this is what I bought:
Heavy as hell but beautiful and used. Now I just hope it’ll arrive in Europe one piece.
Since I’ll have to stay a few more days in Kenya I thought it would make sence to organize a Kenyan SIM Card.

After 44 days in Dar es Salaam it’s time to move on. The „Black Widow“ is fixed and ready to hit the road again.
I had a great time here while waiting for spare parts to get the front wheel fixed. Now that everything is done I’ll be heading towards Kenya and then further up the continent towards the middle east.
Anyone on my route? If yes, I’m sure we can catch up for a beer or two and exchange some stories.

Normally it’s quite difficult to get hand on decent outdoor equipment in South East Asia. But in Bangkok I found a place with several (!) shops selling various equipment. The shops are all in the Outdoor Unlimited Zone on the 2nd floor at the Amarin Plaza. Following shops are there:
- Bike Zone; everthing for cyclists
- Function Marine; marine products
- Climbing Factory; climbers heaven
- K-Trade; This shop sells the finest outdoor gear incl everything from Ortlieb, the best waterproof bags for motorcycles and bikes.
- Mermaids Dive Center; everything for diving
- Equinox; another outdoor shop
- Pro Cam-Fis; Outdoor Clothing
- Gadgetrend; GPS, flashlights and many more gadgets
The Amarin Plaza can be found right next to the BTS Chitlom Station.

Heute darf ich mein 2-jaehriges Jubilaeum auf der Strasse feiern. Andere haben schon darueber berichtet.
Nach Australien, Sued-Ost Asien und dem suedlichen Afrika bin ich nach ueber 89’000 Km in Dar es Salaam (Tansania) gelandet.
Hier sitze ich nun seit einigen Wochen und geniesse einen „Urlaub im Urlaub“. War zwar nicht unbedingt so geplant aber ein Problem ist es definitv nicht. An meiner AT habe ich einige gespaltene Speichennippel entdeckt und musste aus der Schweiz Ersatz kommen lassen. Bei der Reparatur habe ich aber nun bemerkt, dass einige Speichen so im Nippel festgefressen sind, dass sich diese nicht mehr loesen lassen. So habe ich nun auch noch einen kompletten Speichensatz bestellt und werde das Rad neu einspeichen. Haette ich ab jetzt nur noch Asphalt vor mir gehabt, waere ich wahrscheinlich sogar so weitergefahren. Aber zwischen Kenia und Aethiopien liegt eine der schlechtesten Strassenabschnitte von Ostafrika vor mir und so will ich kein Risiko eingehen.
Das Ende dieser Reise ist noch nicht in Sicht und es wird noch einige Monate dauern bis ich wieder schweizer Boden unter den Reifen haben werde.
Das Abenteuer geht weiter…
